Gnu Make

Has anyone been able/had inordinate trouble with "making" Gnu make.
We haven't had more than usual minor difficulties with Emacs, gnutar,
gnuplot. These are all up and running fine. gmake is also running on
our Suns and we have the latest distribution from prep.ai.mit.edu.  If
this doesn't sound familiar I will provide specifics.
