With regards to named problem message from Eric Pearce on march
14.
I had the same problems and now have new ones.
Two things helped the first problem
1. Fix up the nameserver so it returns the name localhost (as
suggested by Lee A Butler).
2. Go into the /usr/NeWS/lib/NeWS and edit init.ps.
Change NetSecurityWanted from true to false.
Having done this, my named works, the window system starts, but
now wsh from a toolchest won't work. The console window opens,
and from that I can invoke a wsh (just not from the toolchest
icon/menu).
The most likely relevant error message from SYSLOG seems to be
