Portable replacement for CRAY *MS routines

We want to port our existing CRAY code which calls WRITMS, READMS, OPENMS,
CLOSMS to other platforms; SGI in particular.  Has anyone written a portable
and/or SGI specific replacements for the *MS routines?  Thanks in advance.
