well, to get the disk running it was necessary to
1. Disable the Synchronous TransferMode (CHN2, JP 8 (Pin15-16) open)
2. Open CHN2, JP 1 (Pin 1-2) (Inquiry Data).
after these changes the system boots the first time without complaining..
but with _heaviest_ IO (cpio -p (reading from the fujitsu-drive) sometimes
another error occurred:
dks0d#s10: Unrecoverable device error: Internal controller error.
To get rid of the message above it was necessary
3. To disable the Read-Ahead Cache ! (CHN3/9 JP 3 (Pin 5-6) open).
the drive runs fine so far..
but i wonder why i have to slow down the device soo much to get it running
with the sgi-machine ? is it the fault of the disk, the scsi-driver or the
scsi-adapter ?
many thanx to merritt at climate.gsfc.nasa.gov (John H. Merritt)
