are 44MB removable drives reliable?

At least two vendors, MicroNet and CMS make a 44MB removable drive.
Lowest mail order price I have seen for Micronet is MacLand 1,099, and for
the CMS, three vendors sell it for about 995.

The guy at one of the mail order houses says all 44MB drives are the same
inside, made by Syquest (spelling?).

Anyone have any good or bad experience to talk about regarding the
reliability of this medium or the Mac software that comes with the drive?

BTW, anybody know if the drives work on a Sun Workstation?
