Is anyone using a Hewlett Packard HP97549 1.18GB drive on a 4/60?
I have recently installed one on my 4/60 (it's is hung off my external
SCSI 150MB tape drive). I did not have a format.dat entry for the disk so
I had to enter the information by hand into 'format'. I've been getting
the following errors intermitently on my console:
sd2: SCSI transport failed: reason 'timeout': retrying command
sd2: SCSI transport failed: reason 'timeout': retrying command
sd2: SCSI transport failed: reason 'timeout': retrying command
sd2: SCSI transport failed: reason 'timeout': retrying command
esp0: Status get fails:msg=0xf8
Stat=0x17<XZERO,MSG,CD,IO>, Intr=0x8<FCMP>
esp0: unwanted data out
sd2: SCSI transport failed: reason 'reset': retrying command
sd2: SCSI transport failed: reason 'timeout': retrying command

esp0: Status get fails:msg=0xf8
Stat=0x17<XZERO,MSG,CD,IO>, Intr=0x8<FCMP>
esp0: unwanted data out
sd2: SCSI transport failed: reason 'reset': retrying command
sd2: Error for command 'read'
Error Level: Fatal Block: 8928
Sense Key: Hardware Error
While these errors are being generated, my console is locked up and the
application that was accessing the disk ultimately dies. The vendor has
shipped me a new drive, but I'm getting the same errors.
The information I entered into 'format' was:

MY CONFIG:
Sun 4/60 running SunOS 4.1
2x104MB internal SCSI drives (Quantum ProDrive 105S, sd0 & sd1)
150MB external SCSI 1/4" cartridge tape (st0)
1.18GB external SCSI disk (HP97549-T, sd2)
Can anyone give me some direction as to what might be causing these errors?
I've tried asking Sun but since the drive is unsupported they can only do so
much.
Thanks,
