How do I get a second SCSI host adapter to work on a 4/380 running 4.0.3?
The built-in SCSI adapter is currently supporting four devices (a 1/4"
tape, 8mm Exabyte tape, two Wren V's). The second adapter is to support
four more devices (four Wren VIIs).
Is there a problem with device name conflicts?
ie. On boot-up, your typical messages:
si0 at VME24d16 0x200000 vec 0x40 (newly installed SCSI)
st0 at si0 slave 32
st1 at si0 slave 40
sd0 at si0 slave 0
sd1 at si0 slave 1
..etc for the "si" adapter...
sm0 at obio 0xfa000000 pri 2 (on-board SCSI)
st0 at sm0 slave 32
st1 at sm0 slave 40
sd0 at sm0 slave 0
sd1 at sm0 slave 1
...etc for the "sm" adapter...
-Is, let's say device sd0, on sm0 going to be different than on si0? Do I
rebuild the kernel using some other sdX numbers for one of the adapters
and do MAKEDEV for the new sd devices?
If anyone has installed two SCSI adapters with many drives hanging off of
them, please send me some info on how to do it correctly.
Thanks in advance...
