Configuration:
Sparcstation 1+ (4/65) running Sun OS 4.0.3 with these SCSI
devices:
1 Exabyte tape drive (st0) (SS1 Consult Patch applied to
support this device).
2 Wren VI external drives (sd1 & sd3)
sd1: <CDC Wren VI 94191-766 cyl 1630 alt 2 hd 15 sec 52>
sd3: <CDC Wren VI 94191-766 cyl 1630 alt 2 hd 15 sec 52>
Problem:
The following error messages are being logged to the console
repeatedly:
esp0: 0.0 data failure
Stat=0x10<XZERO>, Intr=0x10<BUS>
Last state='UNKNOWN', Last cmd='dma tran_info'
DMA addr=0xfff04000, last=0xfff02000;Dma CSR=0x80000000
sd3: SCSI transport failed: reason 'reset': retrying command
The drive sd3 is used primarily by a PC-NFS user, and he claims that he is
doing fairly normal reads and writes from a DOS C program. However, he
may have 2 PC-NFS clients reading or writing at the same time, but to
different files.
Anyone have any ideas what is causing these messages, how serious they
are, and what, if anything, should be done about them? The man page for
"sd" was not very informative.
