I'm running a 20mhz 80386 system with a Maxtor XT4380E (330mb 18ms)
hard disk on a Western Digital WD1007A-WA2 controller. The only
problems I had were in sorting out the bad sector handling . . .
basically, letting the board handle all cases where a track had a
single defect, and feeding the few defects remaining to Unix. Big
disks can have lots of defects, and Microport V/386 barfed well before
I got the whole defect table loaded in :-(. Letting the WD1007 handle
everything didn't work because it marks a track bad on the second
defect, and Microport barfed there as well :-(. The current combo is
working like a dream :-).

Haven't any idea.
