Thorobred BASIC - Help

I have Thorobred BASIC running on a 3b2/310. It appears in the
documentation that you cannot create a program file in vi and
then load it into the BASIC directory - you must create the
program in the interpreter. 

Does anybody know how I can create a file in vi and move it to
the BASIC directory and define it as a program file?
