Socket IPC port from bsd4.3 to sys5.3??

I have a client/server IPC program using bsd4.3 STREAM sockets across
machines.  Now, I want to port it to Sys5.3.  Is there an equivalent for
this in Sys5.3, or better yet, is there a way that I could use the same
code in Sys5.3?
