How secure is dankg

In many recent articles, Dan KoGai [ dankg at ocf.berkeley.edu ] complains about
UNIX security. He also flames many persons on the net because HIS SYSADMINS
don't use shadow password files. Maybe, just maybe, he should reserve his #@*!
hostility for the folks at HIS site. I don't work for the Peoples Republic of
Berkeley so it's not my fault nor is it my problem. If you don't like the way
UNIX implements `security' maybe you should try to get an account on a machine
that runs VM and work in VNIX.
Dan KoGai says [ in response to an article by Jonathan Kamens ] :
if you stop me or people like me from what you call flaming, Give us secure
system for first place so I don't have to post something like this anymore,
period!
WHAT ??? Excuse me, but Mr. Kamens is at MIT. Please explain why HE is
expected to provide a `secure system' for someone at UCB. Well?
Then Dan KoGai says: to convince you
protected with UNIX experts. How many victims do we need to convince you
guys that today's UNIX needs major upgrade of secirity? Well, even after
Stockton Masscare, this country allows us to have guns without any lisence.
maybe asking Americans for secirity is never secure enough for 1st place.
Hmmm, guns without lisence [sic] have no relation to UNIX security. The
Constitution of The United States guarantees the right to bear arms, but
makes no such guarantees regarding computer security. On the other hand,
NO ONE on the net(s) is stopping you from buying your own computer and
making it as secure as you desire. Go ahead! We don't care! What annoys
folk is when you blame them for problems with a system they neither use
nor administrate. Why do you blame Mr. Kamens of MIT Project Athena for
`poor security' at ocf.berkeley.edu ??? If you don't like the security
at your site, DO SOMETHING about it, don't whine on the net(s). Thanks.
