interactive 3.2 parallel port messages

Does anyone know what program in Interactive Unix 3.2 posts the 
parallel port messages to the console? 

Ex:  NOTICE: lp1 OUT OF PAPER

Can the message be routed to a file instead of the console?  I would
like to be able to catch the messages that are placed on the console
and mail (or do something) them to the appropriate user who is 
responsible for that printer.
