A Sun computer and an Apple printer

I have created sort of a mixed-marriage-of-convenience. I have a Sun
3/160 running SunOS 4.1.1, and an Apple Imagewriter II (the Imagewriter
even has the Appletalk option installed!).
I've gotten the two working just fine. The Applewriter had to be
switched to XON/XOFF, and the Appletalk turned off, but apart from
that, I'm happy with the results. But I sort of want more, if possible.
The Imagewriter is a dot-matrix printer, and it has support for nice
dot-matrix graphics -- even color. Is there any magic hackery out
there that will get this setup to do more than the bare minimum?
And no, I didn't BUY the Applewriter for my Sun...
