We are doing performance measurement studies on some software running on a
bunch of Sparcstations running SunOS 4.0.3.
We would like to run the software at various CPU loads and measure the
performance of the system.
We need some tools to generate these CPU loads. has anybody heard of such tools?
The folks at Sun say there is a public-domain software package called
MUSBUS(?) that can be used to generate different parameterized workloads for
performance modelling. has anyone heard of such software? Any info will
be appreciated.
Also, any info on what kinds of tools are available to take detailed
measurements will be appreciated. We know of prof, gettimeofday() and
get/setitimer(). Is there anything more? Some special hardware perhaps?
Please send me e-mail directly. Thanks in advance.
