Read error using the "bar" command

I have been using a SPARCstation 1+ running Sun OS V4.1 to read data
from a multi-volume floppy disk set with no problems (using the bar
command). With no problems until today that is. I hope someone can
shed some light on this problem.

I have two 1.44mbyte mini-floppies. The first disk has a large number
of small files and one very large file at the end which does not all
fit on the first disk; the remainder is contained on the second disk.
The files were written to floppy with the command

     bar -cvZf /dev/fd0

To extract the files, I use the command

     bar -xvZf /dev/fd0

which reads all of the files on the first disk, starts to read the large
file at the end and then prompts me to insert the second disk.
It then reads the rest of the big file plus whatever else is on the
second disk.

Now, however, it reads the first disk including the start
of the big file and then gives me the error

    bar error:read error:Error 0

I no longer get the prompt to insert the second disk and the big file is
incomplete.

Any idea what's going on here? This has worked perfectly for months!

Thanks
