pgcheck PANIC message

Today, my Xenix 2.3.3mc mysteriously went down with the message:

pgcheck: PANIC: page type mismatch: ptp 002153C0 type 2 xtype 0

I'd appreciate if anyone could explain the significance of this
message, which I have never seen before. If it is useful, the system,
a ps2/80 with 6 mb of RAM, was running gnu emacs on one virtual
screen, gnuplot on another, and two idle c-shells on serial terminals.

Thanks in advance for any wisdom.
