Although I didn't see which *nix you arre using, I have had (do have)
the problem. ESIX Rev C _has_ the same problem, j-random-floppy can't
be read etc., no rhyme or reason visible. ESIX Rev D has it fixed.
One of the techs at Everex mentioned a rom change on the 1542B that
'they (Everex) had to scramble to make the floppy work right'. Must
be someone understands it. My floppy still flakes out under DOS (on
what infrequent occasions that I boot DOS ecch). You are not alone.
