kernel tuning

Does anybody have some pretty well tuned kernel configuration tables for the
following configurations?

	
1)	ISC2.02 with 8MB of ram
	TCP/IP
	NFS
	X1.1 (running both clients and server on the local system)
	about 16 additional processes (on top of the standard processes spawned
	by init) with on the average 40K each of memory usage.
	2 x terms 
	1 x client that takes up about 600K in memory
	1 motif window manager
	2-3 additional x terms (such as xclock, xload, etc.)

2) 	same as above, except, no TCP/IP, and NFS	

I have been experiementing with the paramters but the system still page
quite a bit... wonder if somebody has got around this hurdle (or if it is
possbile at all)
