Tapecntl replacement ?

Dear Readers,
Has anyone got a hint how to retension, rewind or erase a tape under
Interactive 2.2 ? There is no such thing as tapecntl that was
available on IX 2.0.2. Any hints, pointers, sources etc.
greatly appreciated.
