MMDF & bounced mail

I have examined the manuals and I cannot find
a solution to this problem:

When mail is bounced (invalid user ID), the
complete message is emailed back to the sender.
What do I change in MMDF's configuration to
cause only part of the message to be returned?

(Rather than have a 40,000 byte message bounced,
I'd rather have only  the first few lines included
in the bounced message and save myself $$$
transferring the data.)
