Exabyte--SCSI or Q-bus

We are contemplating the purchase of an Exabyte 8mm tape drive for our system.
There is a choice about whether to connect it to our VMS MicroVAX II (Q-bus)
or to our DECstation 3100. We are wondering which would be a better idea in
the long run. Is the Exabyte running yet under VMS (we are at 5.2) on the
Q-bus? Is it running under Ultrix on the DECstation (we are now at 3.0, but
are soon getting 3.1)? Will the processor speed make a big difference in
the performance of tape drive? Both machines would be reading over the
Ethernet (via LAVC or NFS). Is the Q-bus going to be around for a while, or
will it be squeezed out by the 'big' VAX busses and the SCSI systems? I'll
summarize responses to the net. THanks.
