tape drive recommendation for VAX and System Vr2

We are looking for new tape drives and want to know what's
good.  DEC drives are extremely expensive, so they are ruled out.
We would like something like a kennedy w/ emulex controller but
do not know if such a configuration is supported under System Vr2.
And help/pointers would be greatly appreciated.
