Proximity Search

There seems to be two useful options for performing proximity searches:
 
  1. Ed Vielmetti & Adrian Ho recommend lq-text (anonymous ftp from
     ftp.cs.toronto.edu).
 
  2. Randal Schwartz recommends perl with this script:
 
       perl -ne 'print if /\bbig\b.{1,20}\bhouse\b' somefile
