Ah, the old Korn and the VAXen story, one of my favorites.
In this case, however, there's an even more obvious
reason not to use control chars.
If you used ^WIZARD as your password, ^W is the erase word char in
most modern tty drivers; thus, it would just be thrown out anyway.
