BNews problems

I am having trouble responding to articles via email using the following:

SCO XENIX 386 2.3.2
SCO-supplied and compiled BNews 2.11
rn

Posting articles through 'postnews', posting follow-ups, and normal mail work
fine. When using 'R' (or 'r') from 'rn', after I finish editing the response
and tell it to send, I get a message to the effect:
"/bin/mail: no such file or directory".

I have to manually edit the resulting dead.letter file and send the result
through 'mail'.

Any ideas anybody ?
